Frequently Asked Questions

Have an anxious pet? Need to reschedule an appointment?
Here’s what most pet parents ask us so you can feel confident booking today.

Special Situations

Do you work with anxious pets?

Yes, every day. We specialize in helping nervous pets relax with calm, gentle handling. Most anxious dogs surprise their owners with how well they do once the stress of car rides, busy salons, and other animals is removed. Check out our prep tips here for anxious dogs.

*For cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, and ferrets, we’re only able to service if can be handled safely. If there’s any risk of scratching or biting, we’re not able to proceed.

Do you still run appointments when it rains, snows, etc?

Yes! We continue running appointments in most weather, rain, wind, cold, or heat.

If you’d prefer not to keep your appointment due to weather or if your pet has storm anxiety, please let us know the day before (or sooner) so we can adjust your schedule without a fee. Same-day cancellations, even for weather, still fall under our regular cancellation policy.

How can I help my dog be less anxious during their appointment?

A walk before we arrive, calm energy, and positive reinforcement (like treats or a peanut butter lick mat) make a big difference. Regularly touching your dog’s paws at home also helps. We strongly encourage clients to check out our Preperation Tips Page.

What if my dog wiggles or pulls away during nail trims?

That’s normal! Wiggly pets are part of our everyday work. We use gentle, proven techniques to keep them calm and safe.

Why do you focus on long-term relationships with pets?

Because pets relax more with familiarity. When they see us every 4 weeks, stress goes down, trust goes up, and nail care becomes easy for everyone.

What happens if my dog is too anxious to complete the appointment? Will I still be charged?

Yes, your appointment reserves dedicated, one-on-one time with your technician.

If your dog is too stressed for a full trim, we simply shift into a Progress Visit. These sessions focus on creating a positive experience and building comfort over time using low-stress, force-free handling.

We’re not just a nail trim service. We specialize in working with dogs to overcome nail trim anxiety, which means some visits are intentionally focused on progress rather than forcing a full trim.

That said, Progress Visits are rare. Because we work exclusively on nails all day, every day, especially with anxious pets, most dogs handle the process far better than their owners expect.

Once you remove the stress of car rides, busy salons, or vet offices, and keep the appointment short, calm, and one-on-one, it makes a significant difference in how comfortable pets feel.

What is a "Progress Visit"?

It’s a confidence-building visit, no full trim, just a positive experience that sets pets up for future success. Progress visits are for dogs only.

What should I do if my dog requires a muzzle?

If your dog needs a muzzle, the best option is one they’re already familiar with, practicing at home makes the appointment smoother and far less stressful. We do carry muzzles as a backup, but for comfort and safety, we require the owner to place it on their dog if one is needed. Check out our muzzle guide here.

What if my pet is aggressive or a bite risk?

Safety comes first. If your dog is a bite risk, they must be muzzled by their owner. If a dog removes the muzzle or becomes unsafe, we may need to stop the appointment to protect everyone. Check out our muzzle guide here. *If you have a cat, rabbit, guinea pig, ferret, or other pet that poses a bite risk, we are not able to service them.

Do you sedate pets?

No. If your vet has sedated your pet, we can trim during that window. We’re also comfortable working with pets using calming aids like CBD or chews.

What if my pet’s nails are injured, bleeding, or overgrown into the paw pad?

That’s a medical issue, please contact your veterinarian.

Do you offer appointments for multiple pets?

Yes. We handle one pet at a time for safety, but you can absolutely book for multiple pets in the same visit.

What if my pet’s nails are very long but not injured?

We handle neglected nails every day, even ones that haven’t been trimmed in months. The sooner we start, the easier it will be for your pet going forward.

Where are nail trims performed?

All services are performed outside, such as on your front porch or neutral area. We do not enter homes, backyards, or gated areas.

Do you offer monthly appointments?

Yes. Our 4-week recurring appointments keep your pet’s nails short, make trims easier over time, and save you from having to rebook each visit.

About 98% of our clients are on recurring schedules, so most availability is reserved in advance. Enrolling secures the same day and time every 4 weeks and includes a $5 discount per pet as long as appointments stay on schedule.

Because recurring appointments are pre-set into our routes, any moved or rescheduled visit is charged at the regular rate.

Will you send reminders or notify me when you’re on the way?

Yes, you’ll get a reminder plus a text when we’re headed to you.

Do you only work with dogs?

No, we also see cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, and ferrets.

Why don’t you enter homes to perform nail trims?

Neutral outdoor spaces reduce stress and keep everyone safe. It also allows us to focus entirely on your pet without distractions.

What happens if I’m not home during the appointment window?

Appointments canceled same day, no-shows, or unprepared pets are charged the full price. This protects your pet’s reserved time slot.

What is your cancellation policy?

Do you accept cash payments?

For mobile services, we accept debit and credit cards only. Cash tips are always welcome. For Pup Up events and our Store Front, cash or card are welcome.

Do you offer other grooming services or bathing?

What’s included in a “Spaw Day”?

A full nail trim plus ear cleaning and teeth brushing, our most popular add-ons bundled for convenience.

How long does an appointment take?

Most nail trims take 5–10 minutes per pet. Even with multiple pets, we keep the process quick, calm, and stress-free.

Do you file or grind nails, or only clip them?

We offer both clipping and grinding for dogs, depending on what’s best for your dog. Grinding can help smooth sharp edges, especially helpful for dogs who like to jump on people or furniture. We offer clip only for cats, rabbits, guinea pigs & ferrets.

Will my floors/furniture get scratched if nails aren’t short enough?

Keeping nails short helps prevent scratches on floors and furniture, as well as reducing discomfort for your pet when they walk.

How often should my pet’s nails be trimmed?

Most pets need trims every 4 weeks. Regular care keeps nails at a healthy length and helps pets stay comfortable. Our recurring appointment option makes this simple and stress-free.

What if my pet has black nails and I’m worried about cutting too short?

Black nails can be tricky, but we handle them every day. Our team is trained to safely trim dark nails without cutting too short.

Do you work with puppies or senior pets?

Yes, we regularly trim nails on both puppies and senior pets. We adjust our approach for age, size, and mobility so your pet stays comfortable. Check out our guides for puppies & seniors here.

What if my pet has had a bad experience in the past?

Many of our clients come to us after stressful nail trim visits. Because we only do nails, and we come to your pet’s home environment, most pets handle it much better than expected.

💡 Pro tip: Most pets relax more than owners expect, and the earlier we start, the easier it is for your pet long-term. Booking now locks in your pet’s spot and helps prevent future nail and paw issues.

Do you require proof of vaccinations?

We do not require vaccination records to be shown at the appointment. By booking, you confirm your pet is up to date in accordance with your veterinarian’s recommendations and/or Oklahoma state laws. For safety, any pet identified as a bite risk must have a current rabies vaccination. If not, we’re unable to provide service.

Do you offer discounts for pets missing a limb or partially declawed cats?

We do not offer discounts based on a pet’s physical condition, including pets who are missing a limb or cats who are partially declawed.

Our pricing is based on the time, care, and handling required to safely complete each appointment, not the number of nails. In many cases, pets with unique needs (including mobility differences or sensitivity) require the same level of time, patience, and one-on-one handling as any other appointment.
